Report on Send-off Organized for 2021 Retirees of the School of Physical and Mathematical Sciences

The School of Physical and Mathematical Sciences (SPMS), under the auspices of the Office of the Dean, organized a send-off for staff who retired from the service of the University on July 31, 2021. The purpose was to acknowledge of their hard work and to formally appreciate them for their illustrious and indispensable service to SPMS and the University as a whole.

The programme was held on August 6, 2021 at the Science Conference Room, Daniel Adzei Bekoe Building. In attendance were the Dean of SPMS Prof. S.M. Yidana, the retirees, Heads of Department, the School Administrator, and staff of the Office of the Dean. The retirees were Prof Daniel Kwadwo Asiedu, former Provost of College of Basic and Applied Sciences, and of the Department of Earth Science, Prof Frank Kwakyi Nyame of the Department of Earth Science, and Mrs. Emma Som Mfodwo of the Department of Statistics and Actuarial Science.

The Dean expressed his profound gratitude to the retirees for honoring the invitation and for their invaluable service to the University over the years. On their part, the retirees shared their experiences, and gave recommendations towards the achievement of the School’s objectives.

Certificates of service were presented to the retirees. Prof. Asiedu was presented with a citation in recognition of his strong faculty mentorship, and distinguished university management roles. SPMS also used the opportunity to give the former Head of Department of Physics, Dr. Samuel Atarah, a citation of honor on the occasion of the end of his tenure. National Service Persons who worked at the Office of the Dean during the 2020/2021 National Service year, were also appreciated during the programme.
