Orientation Programme for Fresh Students

The School of Physical and Mathematical Sciences (SPMS) has organised an orientation programme for all fresh students (level 100) in the School. The programme, which took place on January 13, 2022, was in four sessions covering the following programmes run in the School: Earth Science, Information Technology, Mathematical Sciences, and Physical Sciences.

In his opening remarks, the Dean of SPMS, Prof. Sandow Mark Yidana welcomed the fresh students to the School. He assured them of the readiness of both faculty and staff to help them succeed during their time in the School. He urged them to be diligent in their studies to enable them graduate with flying colours.

 

There were presentations on an overview of the School’s administration, programmes run in the School, career opportunities, and a demonstration on the Sakai Online Learning Management Platform. There was a Question and Answer session during which the students sought clarification on pertinent issues regarding their programmes, among other things.

The programme was attended by the Dean of SPMS, Prof. Sandow Mark Yidana, Heads of Department: Dr. Mary Chama (Chemistry), Dr. Jamal-Deen Abdulai (Computer Science), Dr. Benoit Sehba (Mathematics), Dr. Martin Egblewogbe (Physics), and Prof. Kwabena Doku-Amponsah (Statistics and Actuarial Science). The Head of Department of Earth Science was represented by Dr. Prince Amponsah. Also present was the School Administrator, Ms. Mawuena Abortta, the School Examinations Officer, Prof. Larry Pax Chegbeleh, and academic advisers for the various Departments. The programme was well attended by the fresh students.
