SCHOOL OF PHYSICAL AND MATHEMATICAL SCIENCES ORGANIZES A SEND-OFF FOR RETIREES AND FORMER HEADS OF DEPARTMENT

The School of Physical and Mathematical Sciences (SPMS) has organized a send-off for staff who retired from the service of the University on July 31, 2023, and Heads of Department whose tenure ended on July 31, 2023. The purpose was to acknowledge their hard work and to formally appreciate them for their tremendous efforts and contributions towards attainment of the objectives of the School, and the University as a whole.

The programme took place on August 15, 2023 at the Science Conference Room, Daniel Adzei Bekoe Building.

 

In brief remarks, the Dean of SPMS, Prof. S. M. Yidana expressed profound gratitude to the retirees and former Heads of Department for honoring the invitation, and for their indispensable service to the University over the years.

The retirees were Ms. Gladys Boatemaa (Department of Computer Science), Mr. Michael Obeng (Department of Earth Science), and Mr. Frederick Kweku Tattah (Department of Physics).

Parcels and certificates of service were presented to the retirees, while plaques of recognition were presented to the former Heads of Department. The former Heads of Department were Dr. Mary Anti Chama (Department of Chemistry), Prof. Benoit Florent Sehba (Department of Mathematics), and Dr. Martin. N.Y.H. Egblewogbe (Department of Physics).

 

On their part, the retirees and former Heads of Department shared their experiences and gave recommendations towards the achievement of the School’s objectives.

The send-off was attended by the Dean of School of Biological Sciences (SBS), Prof. Augustine Ocloo; Heads of Department of SPMS; the School Administrator of SBS, Mr. Samuel Acheampong; and staff of the Office of the Dean of SPMS.
